Abstract

The cable drum which winds up an electric cable automatically, consists of two circular flanges with a cylindrical core which can rotate in a housing. There is also a spring which is stressed when the cable is unwound. The drum can be returned to the original position. It can also be stopped in any desired position. There is a blocking mechanism in the housing (1) which is unlocked with a press-button (9). The press-button is spring mounted and linked to the blocking mechanism. It has a central hole (10) through which the cable (2) is passed. The blocking mechanism is in the form of a pawl and ratchet (4,13) which is controlled by a spring and engages in the feet (5) at the edge of the drum (3).
