Abstract

The flushing water tank is partitioned (4) to provide two independent enclosures (A, B), each full of water. The enclosures are connected to the bowl of the W.C. in such a manner that either one or both of the tanks can be emptied in the flushing operation. Existing tanks can be adapted to incorporate the partitioning. Water is fed into the tank through inlets (12) (13) and the bowl is fed through outlets (5, 6, 7) which are normally maintained closed. A one way valve (14) made from synthetic rubber can be provided in the partition wall so that the action of emptying the tank on the free side of the valve also induces the emptying of the other tank.
