Abstract

The digital memory is used to store a video image, defined by a series of binary words, obtained from the video signal provided by a transmitter via a quantifying and coding circuit with a first time base. The stored video image can be reproduced on a display screen which is scanned according to a second time base. A transcoding circuit is coupled between the output and input of the digital memory, with a circuit for generating alternate write and read-out sequences in accordance with one time base. Each of the latter sequences includes a read-out and a write sub-sequence for re-entering a transcoded word at the same memory address from which it was read out.
