Abstract

A vibration viscometer is used to determine viscosity of fluids such as corrosive liquids under pressure and at high temperature for optimisation of the atomising of fuel in high power burners as a function of the viscosity. A transmission pin (24) in the vibration viscometer is immersed in fluid being measured and is vibrated by application of a sinewave. The received signals are then electronically processed. The transmission pin passes through a flexible sealed tube (22) and is attached (23) to it by welding at the base. The tube receives vibration from a control arm (50) for transmission to the pin which has a nodal point (30) determined by shoulders (52) on a bridge piece (14).
