Abstract

A cycle gear arrangement has a main gearwheel which is attached in the conventional manner to the two cranks, with a set of teeth around it, driving the chain. This gearwheel is especially shaped to improve the pedalling action of the cyclist. The gearwheel has two diametrally opposite curved portions connected by two parallel straight portions. The two curved portions form part of the same circle with its centre being the centre of rotation of the pedals. The straight parts are chords of the circle.
