Abstract

A plant for concentrating a soln. from vapours, e.g. for crystallising out a dissolved substance from a soln., for distn., or for obtaining fresh water from salt water, comprises a forced circulation evaporator and a heat exchanger or preheater, in which the soln. receives heat from the condensn. of a gaseous heating fluid. This gaseous heating fluid is a refrigerant (e.g. NH3 or Freon (RTM)) which, after condensing in the preheater is evaporated in a first vapour-condenser, is then compressed in a compressor and recycled to the preheater. Downstream of the first vapour condenser a vacuum pump removes the inert gases. The plant is useful for small installations e.g. pharmaceutical purposes.
