Abstract

Filter fitting for lead acid type cells where constant maintainance of the electrolyte level is required. The filler is valveless and consists basically of a reservoir and a filler and breather tube. Each individual cell has an enclosured (12) which is normally part immersed in the electrolyte (23). The enclosure is open to the electrolyte on its bottom surface, the filter and breather (4) tubes emerging from its top surface (13). These open into an upper two part reservoir (1) such that when the electrolyte is at its correct level the pressure in the reservoir and in the upper volume of the battery is in equilibrium and the reservoir electrolyte level is at the top edge (7) of the filter tube.
