Abstract

The numerical control positioning system consists of a keyboard connected to the control unit. A clock unit emits pulses through two AND-gates and a pulse counter to a binary encoder. The exits from the encoder are taken via amplifiers to the windings of the motor which turns the leadscrew controlling the position of the worktable. The motor has a pole armature with 8 field poles wound in alternate senses. A limit switch connected to the NOR gate and the AND gate to the pulse counter defines the origin of the coordinates. To set the worktable the control unit sends out the required number of pulses from the clock and stops the motor when it has returned the same number of pulses.
