Abstract
The machine is intended for single or multi-phase supply. The stator frame consists of an assembly of rectangular laminations with a central bore for the rotor (15). Two mutually opposite sides of the frame each have three salient poles (1-3;4-6) formed by suitable design of the stator laminations. A yoke piece (7, 8) bridges the back of the poles, and may be integral with the laminations or form a separate piece. Windings are provided on at least four of the poles, and in a multi-phase design on all poles (9-11;12-14). The windings are arranged and connected such that a four pole revolving field results when AC is supplied. Machines designed in this way are suitable for use as low output asynchronous motors.
