Abstract
Device utilises a cup of electrically insulating material, pref. ceramic, which houses a metal anode and a cathode comprising metal catalyst for oxygen which contacts the skin. The cup is filled with an electrolyte in the form of gel which can be held directly against the skin. Electrolyte is pref. potassium or sodium chloride in a buffer soln. with a gelling agent, such as hydroxyethylcellulose. It may also contain a vasodilatory prod. Device provides direct measurement and it may be monitored remotely.
