Abstract

Lever actuated, mechanically linked lathe stops' indexing is obviated. Longitudinal and cross traverse stop shafts are single push button selected. A timing relay controls a stepping driving motor. Manual effort and down-time are reduced. Between the motor worm (14) drive: and the indexing drive shaft (42), a free worm wheel (15) and a keyed (23) toothed (30) drum (22) engage axially on sleeve (16), spring (24) loaded between sleeve and flanges (26), (27). A relay energized magnet's (36) rod (35) disengages a spring loaded pawl (31) from the drum. The friction (29), (29a) driving worm wheel rotates, chain (40) driving the indexing drive shaft, with stop's identification (44).
