Oil power transformers or compensation choke coils electric insulation design and engineering method aims at providing the greatest possible electrical safety of the electrical insulation commensurate with the minimum possible size and expenditure on materials by critical positioning of the insulation sites. The electrical insulation is engineered or dimensioned on the basis of the electrical field strength at the sites in the arrangement that are the most highly loaded or stressed (highest duty). The voltage distribution in an adjacent winding system is determined so that the electrical field distribution in the zones of the highest duty sites of the insulation is ascertained.
