Abstract

For producing the load-bearing, glass fibre-reinforced plastic (GRP) lining for a cylindrical tank (1) with manhole (5), the inner surface of the tank is first cleaned and then isolated by a release agent. Then a GRP laminate is installed in individual layers by the hand lay-up process, these layers being offset with respect to one another so that no weak transmission points result. In the manhole zone, elastic GRP intermediate layers (29) are laminated in. Then prefabricated stiffening rings (30) consisting of a plurality of annular segments (31) are fastened to the laminated tank inside wall. The GRP lining (3) thus produced forms a support system separate from the tank and is suitable in particular for renovating corroded fuel tanks laid underground.
