Abstract

A tractor for farming, forestry, public works etc., has a front part (1) with a driver's cabin above, and two drive wheels. A rear part (2) also has two wheels, both parts being connected by a vertical hinge pin (3) for steering. Power cylinders can be operated by the driver to steer either the front axle independently from the rear axle or both at the same time. Also, the vertical hinge can be locked or released to achieve the required steering action. Hydrostatic motors can be built into the axles, to swing about a vertical hinge pin, and a draw bar can interconnect the two wheels mounted on one axle so that they turn together. All four wheels may be driven. A suspension system for the wheels can swing about a central point, and can be locked or released at the front part.
