Abstract

Precision pipette has a piston system which reciprocates to suck up and eject liquid and which i contained within a throw away tube supported in a surrounding housing. The piston is attached at the upper end to an actuating knob which can be removed and to which is attached an adjustable stop. This stop controls the movement of the piston system during the ejection motion. Pref. the outer housing, surrounding the piston system which has a spiral spring member and which projects from the top, has an upper screw threaded volume cap. A spacer element sits on top of this cap so that the actuating knob is at a predetermined distance from the end of the outer housing. Exact alignment of the piston head is achieved and a standardised valve element can be used.
