Abstract

The mechanical handling truck (1) is used to transport logs and has a front loading mast (2). This has an extension (4) which can be closed or opened out by means of hydraulically operated linkages (3). A carriage (5) moves along the extension mast and is equipped with a boom (6). On the end of this is a pair of curved arms (9, 10) which grips the logs. These are operated by hydraulic cylinders (17) and one is fixable in position when necessary. The boom and arm unit can rotate about the carriage and the complete mast can fold. The arms can then be used to transport skips.
