Abstract

A longitudinal slot (5) is cut in the centre of one face of the tube (2) and a similar, shorter, vertical slot in the support (3). A threaded shank (6) carries a plate (7) which is slightly shorter and narrower than the longitudinal slot dimensions, so that it can be inserted in the slot and rotated through 90 deg. to retain it in position. The projecting shank is then inserted in the hole in the support and secured by a nut (10) and washer. The plate (7) is attached to the end of the shank by welding (9). Rotation of the assembly during tightening is prevented by providing flats (12) on the shank end or a raised portion (13) at the centre of the plate to locate in the width of the longitudinal slot.
