Abstract

Prepn. of a protein concentrate comprises culturing a yeast in a medium having a high carbon hydrate content. A mixt. of sugar beet and date molasses is first treated with a superphosphate in acid medium. The treated medium is then mixed with N salts and a Candida utilis yeast strain is then cultivated in the medium aerobically. The pretreatment enables the cultivation of Candida utilis insensitive to catabolic repression even if the sugar concn. is high. The prod. may be used in animal feeds.
