Abstract

The barbecue hearth is of a sheet metal box type which stands on legs and has heat emanating from a perforated (4) lateral box face (2a, 2b). The sheet metal walls are stiffened to reduce temperature warp, the hearth base (6) is inclined or is of roof shape to direct fire (16) heat towards the heating faces and the box is fitted to receive demountable legs and oven extensions. The stiffening is provided by a external flanged return (7) of the top wall edges and a 'U' sectioned internal return (5) of the basal wall edges. The top flange (7) also serves to seat an overhead grill cover. The single inclined base falls towards wards the perforated wall and has vertical plate edge support walls (10, 11) which sit in the channel formed by the basal box wall returns (5). The doubly inclined based (12) is of inverted 'V' section and is used with opposed perforated box faces (2a, 2b).
