Abstract
The soil irrigation system uses capillary action to provide an underground water supply for plants. It has a network of parallel plastics pipes (2) buried in the ground (6) and fed from a main supply (7, 8). Each pipe lies in the bottom of a channel formed by a sheet (5) of plastics folded to a 'V' shape. This provides a reservoir (Q) of damp earth, having an extended surface (5a, 5b). The pipes are pierced with large diameter holes which are fitted with porous ceramic or plastics plugs for dispensing the water. Alternatively, necked adaptors may be used, each of these being provided with a rot proof wick.
