Abstract

A stop motion for a yarn spinning machine includes yarn guides associated with each spinning station, the yarn guides being in the form of open eyelets. Attached to each yarn guide in an electronic sensor which detects the presence of the yarn. The output from the electronic sensors is fed to a control circuit which sequentially check the output of the sensors and stops yarn feed at a particular station if the yarn has broken. The electronic sensor may be piezoelectric, photoelectric, triboelectric, capacitative, electrostatic or electromagnetic. When a yarn breaks at a particular station, the spinning operation is automatically stopped allowing the yarn to be rethreaded.
