Abstract

An image control unit for visual data presentation has an image generator controlling a representation of signs on a display unit. The display unit receives in periodic succession data words from a data memory of the visual presentation device. The data words are associated with signs and with auxiliary zone control signs defining sign zones. The unit includes a sign generator to which are applied the data words and which transmits at its output the signals associated with the signs to represented and the zone control signs. The unit uses a first control stage to which is applied a control signal associated with a control sign in each data word. This signal takes a first or a second binary value when the data word is associated with a sign which can be displayed or a zone control sign. The stage produces signals by means of which the data words are memorised in a sign register and a zone register. These registers are arranged in the channel between the data memory and the sign generator when the control signal takes the first and second binary values.
