Abstract

Repeater mechanism for a fixed gun barrel is designed for exploding a cartridge arranged opposite an escape orifice for the gases produced by the explosion. The charger, of plastics material, moves in the passage perpendicularly to the gun and the guide for the precussion device. The passage has guide faces against which the charger can slide. There is a contact zone between the charger and the gun. When a cartridge is fired, the gases escape chiefly through the fun barrel but also along the contact zone., The combustion residues follow the same paths and are localised in chambers. These accumulations are out of the way and do not interfere with the normal repeating mechanism. After long usage the chambers can easily be cleaned without dismounting the appts. Frequent repeater action is possible without the risk of jamming the moving parts by combustion residues; so the amount of dismantling and cleaning is much reduced. The mechanism is partic. interesting for use with target pistols, bolt funs and humane killers for animals.
