Abstract

The block is prefabricated from concrete and is used for constructing embankment retainer walls. Each block has a flat vertical front face and a flat base (4) at 90 deg. to the front face. A vertical web (3), behind the front face, joins this and the base together. A footing (6) is prepared and the first row of blocks (1a) positioned. Flat slabs (10) may be placed over the joint between each pair to increase stability. Earth is packed behind and the second row (1b) is placed on top of the first. The process is repeated, with or without the slabs, to the required height.
