Abstract

The machine has a hydraulic turbine (48) in a chamber (9) placed on the sea bed. It is connected by a verticl pipe (46) to a reservoir (11) just below the lowest sea level surface. Water pumps (14) have single acting pistons (17) which are moved up and down by floats (15) riding on the waves. These pumps fill the reservoir. Similar floats (39) work air compressors (24) which feed both the reservoir (11) and the turbine outlet. This enables the water to fall freely under its own weight from the reservoir to the turbine inlet thus reproducing the conditions in a conventional hydro-electric scheme.
