Abstract

The heater has a combustion chamber (2) with a gas burner (4) at its bottom and a finned tube heat exchanger (6) at its top. Vertical partitions (10) divide the combustion chamber into separate compartments (11) and are continued through the heat exchanger. The gas burner is split into sections with one in each compartment (11) of the combustion chamber. The water flow (8) into the heater divides into the parallel branches (7) through the separate sections of the heat exchanger and these branches join on the outlet into a common water outlet (9) from the heater. A single control unit on the gas supply operates the single burner sections in a sequence control which gives efficient part load operation of the whole unit.
