Abstract

The combined overflow (2) and plugged (11) outlet (1) fitting for bath or shower includes a vertically reciprocating plug (11) which is lifted by a traction cable (7). The cable (7) is tensioned by a winding drum (17) and manually rotatable wheel (15) incorporated in the overflow outlet fitting (2). When untensioned the cable (7) is deflected by the plug (11), straightens upon tensioning, and thus lifts the plug (11) off its seat to open the outlet orifice. The cable (7) is guided in a pipe (4, 5) which connects the overflow outlet to the bath outlet pipe at the plug casing. An eyelet and a diametrically opposed sleeve (8) may be incorporated in the plug casing (1) to anchor and guide the cable (7) beneath the plug. The drum axle (18) may bear on a rubber disc (22) to provide a limited resistance to rotation and thus hold the plug in the open position.
