Abstract

The hinge is for boxes of compressed cardboard or similar sheet material, and comprises an extension piece in two parts. The first part (4) is grooved to form the hinge axis, and the second (5) has a device for locking the hinge in place in the base or lid (1, 2). The piece can extend from the top face of the lid. The locking device can consist of a half-moon-shaped piece, with a groove extending from each side of it and forming a hinge between the first and second part on engaging the device. Once the locking device (8) has been fitted in place by pivoting of the hinge (9), it can extend upwards past the top face of the base, being finally secured by the flaps once folded over.
