Abstract

The outer layer (2) and the intermediate layer (3) have dielectrics with uniform refractive indices. The refractive index of the intermediate layer (3) is smaller than that of the outer layer (2). The refractive index of the core (1) changes continuously in the radial direction of the core (1). Thus, the refractive index in the centre of the core (1) may be higher than the refractive indices of the outer and intermediate layers (2, 3). The refractive index on the edge of the core (1) is equal to that of the outer layer (2).
