Abstract
The gear change linkage of the tipping cab is fitted with a coupling and telescopic shafts to allow the gear change to be uncoupled for simple tipping. The inner (14) and outer (27) telescopic shafts are coupled together by ball bearings (23) pressed into transverse bores by cam (22). The cam is coupled to a hydraulic servo piston (16) inside the shafts. The servo piston is operated by the tipping pump so that the operation of the pump first uncouples the linkage and then tips the cab. The system operates in any setting of the gear lever. The capacity of the tipping pump is such that it can accommodate the extra demands for the coupling.
