Abstract

The semi-rigid coupling consists of two identical members (1,2). The outer ends are provided with serrated bores to fit the shafts (4,5). The mating ends of the half couplings are provided with circumferential teeth with convex faces which permit a limited amount of angular misalignment between the shafts. The bore (9) of the mating ends of the half couplings is filled with an elastomer which is compressed between the discs (11). The elastomer transmits the loads under normal running and absorbs vibrations. If the shafts become misaligned the load is transmitted through the teeth, preventing any overloading of the elastomer.
