Abstract

The lock is for safety belts and has a body secured to the vehicle with a plate (2), from which there extend two or more sets of lugs (10). They form a passage for a catch (6) on a plate (8) fixed to the end of the belt. The first plate (2) supports a pawl (14) formed by the assembly of two sets of metal blades separated from each other by a brace of moulded material. The pawl has a tooth forming a ramp at one edge and a holding device for the catch at the other. A pushbutton on the plate (2) is coupled to the pawl by a set of inclined links, so that thrusting the button along the plate lifts the pawl tooth and frees the catch.
