Abstract

A hot water boiler has a burner with a control box. A calorifier for secondary hot water is built in as part of the unit. The primary water circulates through a heating jacket round the calorifier by gravity and is circulated to a heating system by a pump. When heating is required, the burner is switched on and off through the control box by a thermostat in the primary water flow. A thermostat in the secondary side of the calorifier is also connected to the control box. At times when heating is not required, a manual changeover switch puts the burner under the control of the secondary water thermostat and the primary thermostat then functions as a high limit control.
