Abstract

The anaerobic digestion plant digests watery org. waste and produces usable methane gas. A tank has waste inlet and outlet connections and an upper gas outlet. A mixing and heating device supported vertically in the tank consists of open-ended waste circulating tubes arranged symmetrically about the axis. Circulation is obtd. by introducing a flow of gas to the bottoms of the tubes through a central pipe. Heating is effected by circulating heating fluid from an external source, through a jacket which surrounds the pipes. The gas and fluid flow pipes are led through the central support. The plant is used esp. for pig waste, the gas being used to power an internal combustion engine with dynamo. Useful power and lighting for the farm are obtd. cheaply. The plant is easy to operate and service. Noxious waste is rendered harmless.
