Abstract

In order for large forces to be produced by a unit which has a limited diameter and a low fluid pressure, the cylinder-piston unit has a hollow piston (14), inside which there is an auxiliary piston (40) which slides in a sealed manner in the piston, and is fixed relative to the cylinder (10). This auxiliary piston (40) divides the recess of the hollow piston (14) into two chambers (24,26) which can be supplied with the pressurised fluid in order to exert a force in addition to that provided by the fluid in the cylinder (10). The unit is used in servocontrol mechanisms or in presses.
