Abstract

A container for an injection needle has a tubular body pref a plastic moulding provided with an access opening at the end adjacent to the fixing hub of the needle. The part of the body surrounding the fixing hub of the needle has a circular cross section. The known design is modified to provide projections pref. flexible jaws moulded integrally with the container at equal angular spacing on the rim of the container opening. These projections are in slightly frictional engagement with the needle fixing hub when this is on the container in order to prevent the needle falling out under the action of gravity. Construction not only ensures the retention of the needle but provides sufficient frictional resistance to enable the needle hub to be directly pushed onto the injection syringe and after use drawn back into the container so that this and the used needle can be thrown away without the user touching it.
