Abstract

Appts. to act as transmission drive gearing in textile machinery, such as in thread drawing or stretching machines, with a 1% difference in the performance between adjacent gear stages. The number (M) of individual gear stages are each fitted with individual (P) switching points so that the total gearing assembly gives PM gear speeds and stages. The gearing assembly is constructed to give a single unit flanked by two side walls carrying bearings for the axes of the individual gears, where the output shaft of one gear is also the input shaft for the adjacent gear. The gear change mechanism for each gear section has its own gear shift lever which can be operated independently by an operative by a hand grip projecting through the walls. Design gives a simple operation to apply positively any required gear setting which can be set at will.
