Abstract

The gate (14) of the fluid control valve is part cylindrical and rotates inside a cylindrical housing (1) connected to inlet and outlet manifolds (1b, 1c). As the gate is rotated through a quarter turn by a handle (7) it covers or uncovers one of the ports (1b). An arm (8) bent at a right angle and carried on an eccentric (4b) on the drive shaft (4) rotates of the gate. A subsidiary lever (9), integral with the shaft, actually rotates the valve arm (8), which is freely mounted on the eccentric. This arrangement ensures that the gate is firmly in contact with the seat when closed and pressure is relieved during operation.
