Abstract

The inks contain a thermoplastic resin binder which is molten at transfer temp., with addn. of an inert extender. The extender reduces tack of the resin, so that satisfactory transfer of the dye occurs, and the carrier can then be sepd. without difficulty from the substrate, e.g. synthetic fabric. Excess binder is absorbed and not transferred to the substrate. Usual paper carriers can be used for all applicns. Pref. the binder is a resin which softens, sinters or melts and becomes tacky in the 130-190 degrees C range, pref. polyvinyl butyral, styrene/maleate resin, plyamide resin, phenol-modified rosin, acrylate resin, cellulose ether or ester. The extender is pref. pyrogenic silica, aluminium silicate, micro-talc, water-insol. metal oxide, carbonate or sulphate, or pref. silica or a modified silica. Amt. added is 1-20 (2-10) wt.%.
