Abstract

The extraction device is used to take pressed hollow trays from the bottom of a pile. The trays (13) are held in a support (15) from which they can be drawn downwards, by deflecting a lip (14). The trays are pulled out by sets of fingers (7) gripping protrusions (16) on their bottom. The sets of fingers are moved up and down by a ram (1, 3) and are carried on a cross-bar (4). Secondary rams (6, 10) push sliding collars (9) up and down. This movement causes the fingers (7) to pivot (12) varying their separation. At the top of the fingers there are points (8) which engage in locations on the trays. The trays are drawn down and released on to a conveyor for removal.
