Abstract

The first pulse train frequency is independent from engine speed, while the second and reference pulse train frequencies are proportional to the engine speed. The pulses of the first pulse train are counted during the interval between two reference pulses. The pulse number so counted is coded in accordance with a specified ignition advance function. Starting with a reference pulse, the pulses of the second pulse train are counted between two reference pulses, and the number so obtained is compared with the coded number of the first pulse train. A control pulse is delivered when the two numbers are equal.
