Abstract
A ring shaped stator or rotor for an electrical machine, particularly for a vehicle generator is made from a stack of metal strips which are stamped from metal sheets, to give a set of comb shaped strips. These strips are straight, and are all identical. The strips are stacked to a required thickness and bent over a circular sector with any angle up to 360 deg., whose axis is perpendicular to the lamination plane, to form a ring. These strips are bent into a circle around a toothed wheel (7) by using pegs (10) which fit between the teeth of the strips and which are engaged by the toothed wheel. After forming into rings, the ends of the strips are connected.
