Abstract
A SiC based material for watch cases is described. The material is obtd. by sintering, in an inert atmos. SiC powder contg. a few wt % of B4C. The material is very hard, has a high strength and relatively low density, but close to that of the single crystal prod. and is corrosion resistant. The material is a magnetic and can be highly polished an present a metallic lustre.
