Abstract

Each anode in the cell has an active part which is rigidly constructed and a current conductor which consists of two flexible plates which are rigidly attached to projections in the base of the cell, which acts as a current conductor. Cells are used for the prodn. of chlorine, chlorates, hypochlorites alkalis etc. The flexible part of the anode enables it to be accurately aligned parallel with the other anodes, giving min. energy loss by elimination of the need for wide spacing to allow for inaccurate alignment.
