Abstract

Broken rovings occurring in drawing units of spinning machines are picked up by a suction stream and fed to a collecting roller (13), the surface of which is sensed, a signal for stopping the drawing unit being generated when a roving is wound onto the collecting roller. In order also to detect roving breaks which occur within the drawing unit and in order to prevent rovings broken within the drawing unit from winding onto the cylinders located there, there is provided a device in which a stripping lip (5) acts on each cylinder (1, 2) coming into contact with a roving (3) and belonging to each drawing unit, each of these cylinders being assigned two suction funnels (6, 7) extending longitudinally and separated by the stripping lips (5).
