Abstract

The system for mooring of ships at a quayside uses insert feeders to damp out the forces which may result from motion of ship relative to quay. The feeders are constructed with a counter pressure medium filling. The counter pressure medium absorbs most of the bumping forces in a controllable manner. Pressures of excessive nature are absorbed in a second pressure medium which can flow into an expansion or pressure relieving device which prevents any rebound forces being developed in the second pressurized medium system. One set of shock absorbers are at an acute angle to the expected direction of force application and the other is parallel to this direction.
