Abstract
The automatic winding machine produces electrical resistance wiring elements continuously. The machine has variable winding speeds and can clad the resistance wires in preset lengths. The resistance wire, fed from a continuous supply is laid on some support such as glass fibre. A further stage feeds in cladding material. There is then a drying oven. The winding bobbin itself is coaxial. The threading side arrangements are sprung to allow some elasticity. The cross section of the wire is checked continuously by measuring the voltage across a fixed length passing between two electrodes. Adjustable rollers for drawing the wire consists of rubber rings between variably spaced walls. The closer the walls come together, the greater the diameter of the roller.
