Abstract
A valve has a body divided into an inlet chamber (3) and an outlet chamber (4) by a central wall (5). A diaphragm (9) is clamped between the body and a cover by bolts (8). Pressure supplied through the fitting (46) closes the valve by pressing the diaphragm onto the edges of the chambers (3) and (4). A number of parallel ribs (4a) extend from one side to the other of the entrance to the outlet chamber (4) and support the diaphragm against the actuation pressure in the chamber (30). The outlet chamber entrance is made larger than the exit from the inlet chamber (3a) in order to compensate for the restriction to the flow caused by the ribs (4a).
