Abstract

A silicone rubber, pref. as a thin layer, is prepd. by dispensing a soln. of the silicone monomer free of filler from an aerosol container after it has been mixed, pref. prior to use, with curing agents and catalysts from a second aerosol container. Transfer of the contents from the second to the first container is effected in the absence of air, e.g. through suitable valves in the container caps. Layers 4 or 5/10 mm can be prepd. The 2-part compsn. has indefinite storage life and, after mixing the components, the obtd. mixt. has a pot life of 24-48 hrs. Compsn. is used e.g. for restoring deteriorated silicone rubber surfaces of moulds (e.g. prodn. of imitation wood veneer) and oven grids for baking bread.
