Abstract

The locking and adjusting device is for a safety belt or harness in a vehicle. This has automatic return and safety devices which can be either magnetic or electromagnetic. These are solid with the vehicle but allow relatively free movement of the belt. There is a magnetic or electromagnetic part (1) fixed to and adjustable on the belt (2). Fixed to the body is another magnetic or electromagnetic element (3). Under control of the user this can act on the first element (2). At the other end of the belt is a recoil mechanism (4). The magnetic force supplements that given by the spring.
